About maja savnik

Maja Savnik is a distinguished violinist celebrated for her expressive artistry, stylistic versatility, and deep commitment to chamber music. Born and raised in Slovenia, Maja studied at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana, graduating summa cum laude, and during her studies received numerous national and international awards, including the Prešeren Award, Slovenia’s highest student honour.

She continued her musical development at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, where she studied with the renowned pedagogue Tibor Varga. Over the course of her career, Maja has established herself as both an accomplished orchestral and chamber musician, performing a wide-ranging repertoire with leading ensembles and bringing clarity, sensitivity, and vitality to her interpretations.

From 2015 to 2024, Maja was a member of the Australian Chamber Orchestra, where she was widely recognised for her vivid performances and adventurous musical spirit. Her work is marked by a strong affinity for collaboration, an intimacy of expression, and a deep engagement with the creative possibilities of chamber music. In 2026, she joined the Imaginista Quartet, continuing to expand her exploration of the string quartet repertoire.
